Changes in League Format to Provide More Balanced Teams

The Recreational Committee and the League Board of Directors has decided that, in order to truly achieve the equitable formation of teams, the U-10 and older age groups will be formed differently this season.  The League will support a "North and South" format.  Teams will be formed more in line with the high school boundaries (similar to Little League).  There will be an evaluation day when ALL players will be observed with the goal of ranking them for the purpose of team formation.  Any requests for team placement must have a legitimate (serious need) reason and must be made in person to the League Board of Directors by the registration deadline.   The reason for this is to ensure that teams are more evenly balanced.  Once again, the goal is to evenly balance teams.  U-6 and U-8 teams will be formed giving priority to keeping kids together by schools.

 To facilitate the goal of forming teams in a timely manner, the registration deadline this year will be May 19 and no late registrations will be accepted unless needed to fill openings on existing teams.  A $30 late fee will be assessed for any registrations received after May 19. There will be a "League Wide" registration day to be held on May 19 (check website for location as date approaches).  This will be the last opportunity to submit an "on time" registration.  All registrations must be received at the WCU Office by 1pm on May 18 (or at the League-wide registration day May 19) to  guarantee team placement. This means applications must be in the office - not postmarked so please plan ahead.   Registrations MUST BE COMPLETE (with County issued birth record-not hospital records-if needed, financial aid documentation if applicable, and complete payment or payment arrangements) to be considered ON TIME .

In regards to registration costs, the fee has been increased this year by $5 for U-6 ($90) and U-8 ($125) players and $10 for players U-10 and older($130 for U-10, U-12 and U-14 and $145 for U-16 and U-19).  The structure was changed two years ago to consolidate all costs - registration, uniform jersey, Harvest Cup tournament entry and a memory mate photo.  This will again be the fee structure.
